NON-Review by Into-Obscurity.com

Slaine are a Swiss band that may appear as simply another death metal band, but really there's much more going in their music to simply lump them in with other death metal acts. They really create their own twist on death metal, borrowing the tried and true elements of the genre and mixing them with their own progressive elements. The vocals aren't as guttural as most, they're more burly than anything. The guitarwork is all over the place. A lot of time, the six stringers are simply blasting out power chords and at other times, there are melodic interludes and then a weird jazz-inspired riff. Same thing can be said for the drumming. Overall, this actually has a rock tendency to it... so let's call it death n roll!

Unfortunately, the album's production could stand vast amounts of improvement. It isn't as poor sounding as you might expect from a primitive black metal band, but I'd like to hear everything louder and with a better mix. The bass guitar stands out too much and muddys up the rest of the instruments. All in all, I think that, for a self-released album, "NON" is pretty damn good.
